High School assignment about a special relationship written by Luke Urbanovsky
There has always been one person in my life that would drop everything in a moment’s time in order to help me with the smallest tasks. She would go out of her way find the answers to a question that I had asked her even if it may have been an uncomfortable question at the time. She is truly an amazing person and she is my Mom.
My Mom has always been there for me through thick and thin. I figured that, if worse and worse, the least I could do is repay the favor. I know that I would always be willing to save my mom my extra ration if need be. I don’t know if she would take it though. She would be the one offering me her ration.
My mom and I have always had a special relationship. I’m the middle child so I play a dual role in her eyes. I’m seen as one of her babies because I have to learn from my older brother. On the other hand, my mom sees me as a role model toward my little brother because my older brother is too many years ahead of him to really be there for him.
My main role model though is her. No, she’s not perfect; in fact, we butt head on almost every occasion. No matter how stuck on my ways I am; though most of the time she is right and eventually I get that, even though I was mad at her at the time. She has always been there for me. And I know she will always be there for me. Also, I know, she knows that I will always be there for her. Whether it’s asking how her day was, taking a care of her when she is sick, or offering her part of my ration. I’ve dealt with the same temptations Eli has; not to the same degree, but there were times when I wanted to be “Free at last” but just like Eli it only lasted a fraction of a second but I felt guilty because I know she would be there for me without hesitation. I know, deep in my heart, I will always overcome that temptation though.
